Schlaf worden – Vier Bachreflexionen (10'30)
für Sprecher, gemischten Chor und Instrumentalensemble

Die Kantate umfasst alle 7 Strophen der Dichtung von Paul Gerhardt zur Melodie des altkirchlichen Quempas, Teil 1. Partienweise sind Chor und Bläser sehr selbstständig geführt. Im Verlauf der Komposition verlässt die Tonalität dem spannungsreichen Text folgend die Grundtonart F und wechselt strophenweise über G und Es nach F zurück, verbunden durch Zwischenspiele teils imitatorisch lockeren, teil harmonisch blockartigen Charakters.
Der 150. Psalm für Mädchenchor und 3 tiefe Blasinstrumente oder Orgel ist eine kleine Motette, schwungvoll und teilweise metrisch frei komponiert. Trotz ihrer Bescheidenheit in der Anlage und Länge kommt das Hymnische (“Alles was Odem hat, lobe den Herrn”) in dieser Motette zum Tragen.
Die 7 Chorlieder für gemischten Chor und Klavier nach Texten von Wolfgang Bittner, Franziska Strödel, Katharina Hahlbohm und Dietrich Mendt enstanden im Auftrage des Arbeitskreis Musik in der Jugend (AMJ) 2001 in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kammerchor des Clara-Wieck-Gymnasiums Zwickau. Sie wurden im gleichen Jahr in Bensheim (Bergstraße) uraufgeführt.
Die kleine Kantate für Chor und Orgel bringt alle 8 Strophen des Liedes von Friedrich von Spee, verbunden durch kurze Ritornelle. Mit gleichwohl nur 6'30" Dauer ist sie auch im Gottesdienst gut verwendbar.
Der deutsche Text dieser bewusst einfach gehaltenen Requiem-Vertonung orientiert sich in freier Entfaltung am traditionellen Requiem-Text. Die verschiedenen Teile sind als Strophenlieder ausgeführt. Die musikalische Ausführung ist in mehreren Varianten möglich: A cappella, Melodiestimme mit Instrumentalbegleitung, gemischt, auch wechselnde Besetzungen innerhalb einer Aufführung. Die vollständige Partitur dient neben den Sängern auch der Orgel oder dem Posaunenchor als Spielpartitur. Streicherstimmen auf Anfrage.
Als Auskoppelung aus dem Weihnachtsoratorium von Matthias Drude gibt es die Einzelausgabe "Die Welt ist schöner geworden" (Wiegenlied der Maria) für Sopran (auch chorisch), Violine oder Klarinette und Orgel oder Klavier.

Die Motette ist dreiteilig angelegt (1. Teil Passacaglia, 2. Teil Übergang und Fuge, 3. Teil Choral, Text Paul Gerhardt, Melodie Johann Crüger). Sie ist durchgängig vierstimmig gehalten und relativ leicht auszuführen.
ROSA MYSTICA (1. Die Paradiesrose, 2. Der Lebensbaum, 3. Die Königin des Himmels, Motetten) wurde 1960 während eines Aufenthaltes in der Villa Massimo in Rom komponiert.

Diese Kantate ist in der Schule entstanden, ganz aus dem Wunsch und Bedürfnis heraus, eine Lücke schließen zu helfen, die dem Musiklehrer bei der Programmgestaltung der Abschlussfeier alljährlich aufs neue Kopfzerbrechen bereitet.
Um allen Schularten eine Aufführung zu ermöglichen, ist neben der Fassung für gemischten Chor auch eine Singpartitur für drei gleiche (Ober-) Stimmen erschienen. Diese mit dem Satz für gemischten Chor als Dirigentenpartitur eingerichtete Klavierstimme ist für beide Ausführungen zu verwenden.
